When Danica talks her parents into letting her stay home with her grandmother instead of making a long road trip with her family to visit her cousins at the lake, she thinks she's come up with the perfect way to avoid two of her greatest fears: deep, dark water hours stuck in the car with her little brother Ivan ("the terrible"). What could be better? Little does she realize her fears are about to take on a whole new feathered twist. As part of the deal, she has to collect eggs each day from their family's chickens. Terrified of the big fat hen that seems determined to make Danica's life as miserable as possible, she comes up with increasingly elaborate ways to avoid doing her chore, turning Danica's "staycation" into a clucking chaos!
